Lancia K Station Wagon

The Lancia K Station Wagon by Pininfarina.

Vehicle Overview

The Lancia K Station Wagon entered the price lists following the aforementioned technical upgrades in mid-1996. By this time, a clear trend had emerged that was transforming station wagons from purely utilitarian transport vehicles into refined and versatile automobiles, aimed at satisfying an increasingly discerning and sophisticated clientele. Responding to this shift, Lancia’s designers, in collaboration with the renowned Italian design house Pininfarina, set out to create a station wagon that combined elegance, practicality, and innovation. Pininfarina was not only responsible for the design but also handled production of the car at its facilities in Grugliasco—where the sheet metalwork and painting were carried out—and in San Giorgio Canavese, where the bodywork assembly and road testing took place. The result was a model that served as the spiritual successor to the family-oriented version of the Lancia Thema. The K Station Wagon inherited the traditional roof side moldings of its predecessor, available in either satin-finished metal or a dark-colored variant, lending a dignified and upscale tone to the car’s overall appearance. Spacious and comfortable, the Lancia K Station Wagon impressed with a generous and finely crafted cabin, offering ample room for passengers and luggage alike. One of its key technical highlights was the standard adoption of the sophisticated Nivomat self-levelling suspension system. This feature allowed the car to maintain optimal ground clearance and stability regardless of the load it was carrying—enhancing both driving comfort and safety. Visually, the rear three-quarter view of the K Station Wagon was characterized by clean, harmonious lines, giving it a sleek and modern silhouette. The elegantly styled tail section was frequently cited as one of the most attractive features by customers, combining aesthetic appeal with practical utility. Overall, the model represented a balanced blend of design flair, innovation, and everyday usability.
