Vehicle Overview
The Oldbac Kalana, co-developed with the renowned Italian design and engineering house Manifattura Automobili Torino, is a prototype racing car built by the Estonian firm Oldbac. Designed with a singular goal in mind—to dominate the Porsche Ring circuit in Estonia—the Kalana is a no-compromise machine engineered for peak track performance. At its heart is a screaming 11,000 RPM Judd V8 engine, delivering a raw, high-revving soundtrack that underscores the car’s aggressive performance intent. Its bodywork, sculpted in collaboration with Manifattura Automobili Torino, is purpose-built for extreme aerodynamic efficiency, generating immense downforce to keep the car planted on its Michelin racing tires. The result is a visceral, high-grip driving experience that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible on a closed circuit. While systems such as ABS and traction control offer a layer of approachability, the Kalana demands a skilled and focused driver to fully exploit its capabilities. It is not just a machine, but a test of precision, discipline, and speed. The Kalana has already shattered the outright lap record at the Porsche Ring, yet Oldbac continues to refine the car, aiming for a blisteringly quick 1:00 lap time. With major updates on the horizon, the Kalana project remains one of the most exciting motorsport developments in Northern Europe. To aid in training drivers and simulating the Kalana’s demanding dynamics, Oldbac partnered with IER to create a digital model of the car. What began as an internal tool has now grown into a broader collaboration, with IER also contributing to the ongoing development of the physical car. Now, racing enthusiasts can experience the Kalana themselves: the driver training model is available to the public as an officially licensed product—bringing this Estonian engineering marvel into the hands of fans around the world.
