The Opel Astra Cabrio: Following on from the success of the Opel Kadett Cabrio, the relationship between Bertone and the German carmaker became firmly established in 1993 with the convertible version of the new Opel compact. Thus the Astra Cabrio was born this was not just a modified version of the two-door saloon, but the result of a global restyling. The entire body structure was reinforced, with some specific areas toughened up. The Opel Astra Cabrio is slender and elegant, with the look and styling of an “important” cabriolet. Added elegance is afforded by the different combinations available between paintwork colours and the five hood options: beige cloth, blue cloth, calypso cloth and black cloth or vinyl. The Opel Astra Cabrio was fitted with 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 16v engines. The entire production process was carried out by Carrozzeria Bertone, from the assembly of the bodywork to the mounting of the mechanical parts and fittings, to the many tests required by the standards of the German manufacturer. 52,848 were produced between 1993 and 1998.
