As Italdesign celebrates its 56th anniversary, the renowned design and engineering company is set to dazzle the world with two groundbreaking world premieres. In a nod to the iconic Marco Polo’s historic journey, the company is unveiling Asso di Picche in Movimento and Quintessenza at prestigious events in Milan and Beijing, respectively.
The first chapter of this exhilarating journey begins at the Milan Design Week 2024. From April 15 to 21, 2024, the Italdesign Showroom inside the Opificio 31 at Via Tortona 31 in Milan will be transformed into a captivating space bridging the past and future. Italdesign aims to showcase its commitment to design over the last 50 years, offering attendees a glimpse into the evolution of creativity and society.
The spotlight of this Milanese spectacle will be the Asso di Picche in Movimento coupé, (Ace of Spades in Motion). Having transcended its digital origins, the concept car will be presented in the physical realm as a full-scale model, marking a historic world premiere. Joaquin Garcia, Head of Design at Italdesign, emphasized the importance of this unveiling, stating, “To us, its architecture becomes a narrative of the evolution of a form in motion, the motion of the automobile, but which is also that of our own organization, which is constantly transforming.”

The journey continues eastward with the second stop in Beijing, at AUTO CHINA 2024 held at the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) from April 25 to May 4. In the W1-W05 booth in Area W1-W, Italdesign will unveil Quintessenza, a high-end concept that seamlessly integrates eye-catching design, exceptional functionality, and state-of-the-art features. The name Quintessenza, meaning Quintessence, reflects the fusion of the four elements—Matter, Earth, Water, Air, and Fire—with the fifth being the Human Being.
Joaquin Garcia, reflecting on this dynamic year for Italdesign, said, “For Beijing Auto China, one of the most important motor shows in the world, in the year of the Dragon, we drew inspiration from the four elements of Matter, Earth, Water, Air, and Fire, and the fifth constituent element that to us is the Human Being.”
