Fiat Punto Surf

A small, sporting pick-up, the Coggiola proposal is designed for young people with an active lifestyle rather than as a light commercial vehicle.

Vehicle Overview

The Fiat Punto Surf made its debut at the 65th Turin Motorshow in 1994, showcasing an array of innovative concepts built upon the chassis of the popular Fiat Punto. Crafted by Coggiola, the Surf was a distinct two-seat concept designed to appeal to the younger demographic, particularly those with a penchant for beach outings. Blurring the lines between a car and a pickup truck, the Surf utilized the chassis of the Fiat Punto, offering a unique blend of functionality and style. One of the notable features of the Punto Surf was its eye-catching design elements. The exterior boasted smooth lines, tinted windows, and color-matched wheels, creating a visually striking and cohesive aesthetic. The unconventional placement of signal indication lights away from the headlights, positioned on the car’s 3/4 angles, added to its distinctive appearance. During the 1994 Turin Auto Show, Fiat extended an invitation to Italian coachbuilders to unleash their creativity and develop unique concept cars based on the standard Fiat Punto. Coggiola answered this call with the Punto Surf, joining the ranks of other bespoke creations such as the Punto Racer by Bertone and the Fiat Punto Beach by Scioneri. The Punto Surf’s design was particularly geared towards individuals who frequented the beach, catering to a lifestyle-oriented audience. By blending practical features with stylish aesthetics, the concept aimed to capture the imagination of those seeking a versatile and eye-catching vehicle. The Fiat Punto Surf remains a fascinating chapter in the history of automotive concepts, showcasing the industry’s willingness to explore new ideas and cater to diverse consumer preferences.
