Vehicle Overview

It is not a showcar but a research for a two seats Coupé and central engine thought for a daily production of 50 cars, for USA market.After prototypes of Lotus Etna and Maya premiered at Turin Motor Show, Ford requests the development of a model with a modified design (Maya II ES) and of a spare car with longitudinal engine (Maya II EM).

Maya general architecture remains the same, but the lines are here smoother, Ford requests are especially bounded to particular solutions like the use of a central air intake like the one used for Ferrari.

It is curious to know the story of the painting: Ford wanted a flaming red, but when Maya II ES  came back to Italdesign, it was immediately re-painted in two different tones of metal grey.
