Giugiaro Parcour Roadster

The setup of the Giugiaro Parcour Roadster is very similar to that of a coupé but in this case  the style has been redesigned starting with the engine, to enhance the sporty spirit even further; in fact, in this version there is no interruption in the continuity between the passenger compartment and the engine compartment.

Vehicle Overview

The Giugiaro Parcour Roadster by Italdesign is an extraordinary concept car that celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Giugiaro design studio, founded by Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro. This one-of-a-kind prototype was produced as a single working model, accompanied by two static models. It uniquely combines the characteristics of a high-performance GT sports car and an SUV. While it borrows the low, streamlined body from the former, it inherits the elevated ground clearance from the latter, allowing it to tackle rugged terrain without sacrificing the performance of a grand tourer. The name “Parcour” is inspired by the urban sport “parkour,” which involves adapting the human body to various environmental challenges. Reflecting this concept, the Parcour Roadster is designed to be versatile, equally suitable for comfortable road trips, off-road adventures, and spirited sporty driving. The Parcour Roadster made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, where three variants were showcased. The first, a red coupé with a closed body, was the only drivable concept. The second, a white roadster, was a static model, as was the third version, a coupé with a sporty livery hinting at competitive potential. All three variants shared the same angular and taut design, evoking the sharp lines of classic sports berlinettas from the 1970s. The front end features a narrow, sharp nose, reminiscent of Maserati berlinettas like the Merak or Bora, with subtle headlight clusters framed by a wide black grille. The rear design is characterized by a frame that houses the upper section of the tail, with a central red “G” stop light, a signature of Italdesign Giugiaro’s research prototypes. The slim, horizontally oriented taillights and the high-mounted exhaust outlets beside the engine bay add to the futuristic aesthetic. The sides of the Parcour feature large 22-inch wheels within octagonal wheel arches and butterfly doors. Replacing traditional mirrors, cameras are mounted on the upper door arches, enhancing aerodynamics and modern appeal. Inside, the Parcour offers a sporty, minimalist cockpit for two occupants. The driver can adjust the steering wheel and pedals electrically for optimal driving posture. The dashboard is clean and straightforward, featuring extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber, while the futuristic steering wheel incorporates controls for lights and other secondary functions. Under the hood, the Parcour is powered by a mid-mounted 5.2-liter V10 Lamborghini engine, delivering 550 hp, similar to the Gallardo Balboni but with all-wheel drive. The adjustable ride height (210 to 330 mm) underscores the car’s adaptability, allowing rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The Giugiaro Parcour Roadster brilliantly merges high-performance dynamics with off-road capability, encapsulating Italdesign’s vision of a versatile and exhilarating driving experience.
