The Nardi Silver Ray was one of the first Italian sports cars to feature an American V8. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, it was built in 1960 using part of an Alfa Romeo chassis.
The Nardi Silver Ray was designed by Giovanni Michelotti and built with some parts from the Alfa Romeo 412. However, the most interesting thing was the engine. The car was equipped with a 1958 350 cubic inch engine and two AFB carbs attached to a two speed Powerflite transmission. The chassis was in part that of the Alfa Romeo 412 Spider Vignale one-off which had a very interesting but also sad story: bought by Enrico Nardi and then dismantled with parts used to build this one-off. This car is also known as Plymouth Silver Ray and is part of the “Ray” series created by Nardi himself in the 50’s among the two Blue Rays: Raggio Azzurro I & Raggio Azzurro II which were built by Carrozzeria Vignale and designed by “maestro” Giovanni Michelotti.
