The new DeLorean will be an electric sports car designed by Italdesign

The famous Back to the Future icon is ready for its second life, in collaboration with Italdesign

The time seems finally come for the great return in 2022 of DeLorean, the legendary car with gullwing doors which was transformed into a time machine in Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future series. The company that acquired the rights of the brand has in fact published a video teaser on Twitter announcing the unveiling during the next months of 2022. As for the original model, Italdesign has been involved once again. What will the new DeLorean be like? According to the first rumors it will be an electric sports car with very interesting performances.

For now it is known as EVolved and should debut by the end of 2022. The promise of the British engineer and entrepreneur Stephen Wynne, who in 1995 acquired the rights to the brand, would finally be kept. Of the 9,200 units produced of the original DMC-12, it seems that there are still about 8,000 still circulating on the streets. The style was based on an original design by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign and 40 years later the two companies will meet again.
